For high output engine applications - up to 31 300 kW - MAN B&W Diesel develops and produces a wide range of axial turbochargers. In 2002 the company presented a completely new generation, the TCA series, featuring amongst other technical highlights a completely new system of compressor mounting.

All MAN B&W axial-flow turbochargers share these characteristics:
  • An inboard arrangement of plain bearings lubricated by the engine’s lube oil supply system to yield a bearing lifetime of more than 30 000 hours
  • A one-piece compressor wheel with stable characteristics and a high efficiency level
  • A fir-tree root connection of turbine blades
  • Simple maintenance.
